Ummmmm

Reality Check:

No, I didn't expect my family, friends, or anyone else I actually know to give me 87k for a house... what is this, tvland? I am amazed that anyone would think I seriously would even ask. -.-

Without getting too personal, I'll just say that something was in the works and it didn't work out... I guess humor and irony don't come through in type that well. My apologies.

Derek says this sounds snippy and mean... I don't mean that, I just meant that you've gotta be kidding me LOL

Killing the Dream

Well, apparently, burning $750 on rent every month is preferable to having your own roof, your own washer/dryer and dishwasher, your own yard with trees and a firepit and your own, ground-level residence, being half an hour closer to work and being able to get a dog. Guess I just don't see things on the right level for the "real world." Why do I even bother?

Wooo! Jaaaaaasper!

So I spent the week in Jasper learning all about Parks Canada. I. Mean. All. About. Parks. My brain is super-tired but I feel really really good about everything I learned. I like being part of an organization that has good in mind... not just profit. I could really see myself staying with Parks if the right position came along and if the teaching thing doesn't work out. Actually, I've had a brainwave about what my position could potentially be, but I don't know if it already exists, or what qualifications are needed to fill it. My mentor/hairdresser told me to write a paper on my reasearch in the field, then present it to the powers that be... describing it all and creating a spot for myself. It's a daunting idea, but might be crazy enough to just work.

Anyway, enough about that. I also got teased for being a party-pooper b/c I was in my room, in bed by midnight every night. I told them that if I didn't get enough sleep that they would be very, very sorry. (You know what I'm talking about.) I saved my energy for Thursday night and then unleashed the beast within. I had SOOOOO much fun at Petes in Jasper drinking, dancing, playing pool and bonding with other Parks staff. I will post pictures when I learn how. Friday was the windup and I was fine until it was time to go; then I beelined for my room and took my bags right out to the jeep. I can't handle goodbyes. :(

One nice thing was that some people had to stay overnight in Edmonton before their flights Saturday so we went out to Gateway Bowling Lanes on Friday night and wound up the week. It was wonderfully fun. It will be a long time before I let some of the people I met back out of my soul.

In other news, I decided I am quitting my job at Rexall. It's just one stressor in my life that I really don't need. The two weeks I was away I didn't think of the place once... and I think that's really telling me that it's time to move on.

I found an ugly trailer that I am dying to buy. It's $87,000 but it's nice inside and has a huge yard. I want to be out of an apartment. NOW.

I know that it's an impossible dream, but I'm allowed, am I not? I already e-mailed my family asking for the 87K so we'll see... Really it's not the capital I need, but rather a name on the papers. Dude and I make way more than enough to pay for it, it's just getting all the finances settled that will be tough. Never know tho'... sometimes things DO work out for the best. :-)

**** disclaimer**** guys... it was a joke. i didn't actually expect anyone I know to give me 90k LOL

OOTFTW

Yea... out of town for the week. Leaving today at 1 for an orientation session in Jasper for my summer job. Should be interesting, should be fun.... hope it'll unwind me a little bit. Otherwise, I'll be the same tight spring until the end of April. Yikes. No one wants that.

Was dragged kicking and screaming to sledding the other day... it was actually really really fun, although my crazy carpet skills suck. Next time I want a tube. Apart from some stiff muscles and a couple of crazy bruises I am a-ok.

Well I gtg in 2 hours so I'd better go pack and pay some attention to the Dude.

Dear Partner...

Hey, partner, I'd like to talk to you for a sec. about something. You see, there's this crazy rumor going around that when everyone went out to Boston Pizza for Debbie's birthday, you took it upon yourself to tell people that I was an unreliable partner; that at the Snoop concert we had an incident and I turtled.

Now, please explain to me, dear partner, what I should have done. What I did was hold off two guys bigger than me while you threw their friend to the ground and handcuffed him. I kept myself between them and YOU so that they did not jump on you to save their friend. Would you have preferred, perhaps, that I take one down myself and cuff him with my non-existant handcuffs? Or, I could have put one of them in a transport wrist lock... hmm... seems to me that both of those situations leave the free guy still able to jump you. Or maybe I should have taken them both on? I'm sure WCB would cover my injuries...

Dear partner, I'm not exactly sure where you get off spreading these rumors about me. The last time I checked, this is not high school. Maybe I should start spreading the truth... that you decided to physically haul a guy out of his seat at a rap concert for smoking... in a building of 9 thousand people, 70% of whom were smoking... Is it any wonder that the guy struggled with you? Maybe you should try talking to the guests instead of manhandling them. Do you ever wonder why you end up with so many incidents like this? It's because yes, you have physical strength, but you have no thought process. If you actually tried communicating the problem to the guest he might have a chance to respond. Then, he would not get a bloody face, his friends would not try to stop you and I would not be left in the position of keeping two guys off your back.

Dear partner, maybe you feel that I let you down in that incident. But, dear partner, I feel that my actions in that particular situation were justified. I do not, however, feel that you spreading rumors about my ability to do my job, several weeks after the fact, is appropriate. In fact, it's unconscionable. If you have a problem with me, maybe you should tell me... as I am telling you.

Oh Bother!

Is it possible to have "pregnant brain" without actually being pregnant? Gosh, I feel like I am losing my mind. Maybe it's just because I'm overtired/too busy, whatever... but I can NOT keep things straight in my head lately.

Example: Today I walked into my English 401 class and the teacher asked me if my paper was ready to hand in. I looked blankly at her and said, "paper? I thought it wasn't due until the 9th..." Well aparently it was due today. Luckily I have until 8 tomorrow morning to hand it in without penalty. Boy, did I feel stupid. All of this on top of not having finished Chaucer's "The Wife of Bath's Prologue and Tale" (which is very funny and good, by the way) because I don't understand a dang thing Chaucer says... the smart girls in class told me to look it up on the net and find a modern translation. ...oh. Anyway, about the due date- I have it written on ALL of my calendars as being due Feb. 9th. Don't ask me where I got THAT from!

So anyway, I guess I'm writing a paper tonight instead of going sledding with my friend R. I feel bad because last week we were supposed to go, but I didn't have boots or snowpants... both of which seem to have disappered into thin air.

The good news in all this is that I have another paper due for the same prof on Friday and I am getting my teeth killed or something on Wednesday. Yippee?

Oh um... we went to the World Waterpark at WEM on Saturday night and it was SOOOOO fun! The wavepool was as fun/relaxing as I remember and waterslides are MUCH better than I remember. I am sad though, because I am a big wet chicken when it comes to the Thunderbolt (a like, straight-down drop on a tiny sled thingy.) I just couldn't do it. Maybe next time. More fun: I saw some of my ex-students and they look so good and grown up! Also, watching my boyfriend play on the slides and in the water like a ten-year-old was a charge. I'm so glad he had a good time!

OOh crap. More evidence of my lack of attention: I just noticed the dvds that I rented last Monday sitting in the middle of the living room floor. D'oh. Guess I'll take 'em tomorrow and they'll be late....

*giggle* here's an edit because I forgot my original reason for wanting to blog today: SPICY CURRY Lay's! If you like curry, you will LOVE these! They rule the school!! I think I gotta check out www.lays.ca to see what else they have.

What I Learned at the Mall Today

1. I am gaining maturity! I heard a couple of high-school guys over lunch and one of them said something "fucking sucks" and realized I haven't used that phrase in like, for EVER!

2. I am cursed! Yet another product that I love (Burberry Brit Red) is gone forever. It was a special edition and they don't care that I fell in love with the scent. I guess my little tiny sample bottle will have to last me for life. That fucking sucks!

3. LaSenza at Kingsway is selling winter p.j.s for $8.50 a pair. That includes flannels and "Happy Feet" lisenced jammies!

4. Second Cup makes a MEAN green tea latte. Tastes just like Starbucks green tea frappuccino without all the ice and whipped cream. Mmmmmm whipped cream...

to be continued as I am going to WEM in search of BBR- see #2
