GO HOCKEY!

WOW! My hockey men played a good game tonight! We had a 4-0 shutout with fights and much excitement. That makes me happy!

Tomorrow morning I'm going out to Elk Island for my French lesson- more a refresher course than anything, but it's a great opportunity to stay in touch with some of the people that I miss from the Park! **mental note- must check out Park's new horse while I am there**

Follow-up comment- I DID eventually end up going to the Park to do depth measurements. Warden friend and I did a great job- amazing what can be accomplished when the Lake cooperates! Also explored a cool island... only to discover that it wasn't an island at all, but a peninsula. /shrug you win some, you lose some.

Stay loose, peeps!

ACK! MUST GET... COMPUTER!!!

Life is just way too tough without a computer. I have to suck up to my friends to get some blogging/e-mail time in. Sucking up is hard work... but good when friends feed me too! =D

I've been really busy doing not much lately. I finished my job and have been *gasp* HOUSE cleaning!! It's felt good- I put the boxes of Christmas decorations away in the storage closet. YES, they were still in the living room from last December... so what?

Being back at my part-time job has been fun too. I get to see lots of hockey men and that makes me happy. I work with so many swell people there too- from the 16 year-old "omg I hate my mom" friends to my 60 something old man friends that tell me hockey gossip.

I've been doing lots of scrapbooking too, with my friend D. She is UBER creative and makes beautiful pages. I, on the other hand, ...organize my photos well. And take D's advice on what to do with my pages. Damn. Maybe I'll be artsy and creative next life.

I am in love with D's baby, P. She is a living DOLL! SOOOOOOOOO cute. I'll be relieved when she gets to be a bad girl, and becomes birth control. Now she is way too dangerous.

I'm applying for a couple of jobs for the next months. I need some income so we can pay rent. Blah. Sucks. But- if things go well, then I will get into a Pre-Apprenticeship program so I can begin my career. In what, you might ask? Well I want to be an electrician. Really. I know you've heard this before, but I really want to have a job in which I actually DO something. And the hours are good. And the pay is good. And I can be dirty and swear. :) Right up my alley.

So... this blog is to satisfy D because she needed something new to read. Love ya, Babe.

Angst

I'm suffering angst on two fronts today.

1) serious melancholy (still!) about leaving this job

2) a certain jackass from my LS on FFXI who epitomizes selfishness but that our fearless leader cannot, in good conscience, kick from the shell. In fact, let's expand this point of angst to all of those who promise to do events with me but always end up completing them with no notice to me. I mean, don't other people have lives??? Am I supposed to play the frigging game 24/7 too, just so I have a chance to get things done??
THANKS FOR THE OFFER, BUT I'LL HAVE TO PASS. I like real life.

Exercise (in futility!)

This morning I went out on the Lake with one of the Park Wardens to try to take some depth measurements. It is an extremely windy day. Let me give you a little advice: if there are whitecaps on the water you WILL get exercise but you will get no depth measurements.

On the upside, a bison is spying on me from the end of the driveway here, my main squeeze may finally have a job and said warden makes good tea and better pinto bean cake.

OMG! Did you know...

...that it's possible to accidently spray ketchup from a package all the way from your thigh to your hiking boots... that starting to watch a movie at midnight is a bad idea if you have to get up at 5 am... that having a spouse go for a job interview can be as exciting and nerve-wracking as going for your one of your own... that 6:45 am is a really good time to see wildlife at a National Park (we saw 2 bull elk sparring!!)... that pets come, you love them, but when their time comes there's nothing you can do to save them... that I really do love and value my friends and family for all they are and all they help me to be...

Summer's Nearly Over

I'm sitting in the kiosk at the campground eating a plum from my sister's plum tree (YUM) and thinking about the fall... It's the Labour Day long weekend and that means the last BBQ here at Elk Island, the end of the bison rut and the last weekend of work for most of my co-workers. Although everyone's anxious to leave, I am a little sad to see the end of such a great summer. Man, did it fly by! I spent time with some really great people in an unbeatable place. I know I'll never forget the time I spent here- I'll always have my memory movies.... Moving on to the fall will be a great adventure too- hockey is starting again so I'm looking forward to being back at Rexall Place and who knows what else will come along... besides the snow, that is! =)

They say that every end is a new beginning... just hope the next chapter is as satisfying as this has been.
