Refreshingly Fun

Yesterday was the bridal shower of a cousin of mine. I'm not sure if I've spoken to this cousin in the last 10 years... My aunt can be a difficult person to know and had taken a distinct dislike to our sect of the family (probably because I skated with T which caused rivalry issues). My sister-in-law, J is the only one who ignored the politics and would approach my aunt from half an isle away in a grocery store just to say hello and etc. I don't know if it was J's overtures or my cousin D's wife (with whom I was friends in Junior High) being an angel with open arms and a heart of gold that led to us being invited to the wedding and subsequent shower. LOL Never mind that we had my dad deliver the response card directly to my uncle at work to ensure that it didn't get "lost in the mail." Anyway, to the shower we went.

To make a long story short, my aunt actually talked to my mom, D was again an angel with open arms and an adorable (!!) daughter (1 year old), my niece, R and my Granny served as a good buffer and J was there being friendly and fearless as always. (We also filled up on my aunt's famous devilled eggs. Man I missed those eggs!) I won a prize for having the most words in a word scramble and also won a door prize! Hot damn! Anyway, it was interesting to see family relations progressing again. Interesting and relieving.

Can. Not. Wait. For. The. Wedding. (3 weeks) (and an open bar! yay!)

Something NEW!!

HURRAY!! I got a seasonal offer to return to Elk Island National Park for the summer. I am 96% sure I will accept it, although there are a few details to be hammered out.

A penpal of mine (for 10 years now!!) is coming back to Canada for a visit. We are hoping to be able to meet up with him and his steady in Vancouver in early May.

One of my cousins is gettin married in March and we were invited!! (shock!!) Yes, for those of you familiar with my family, it's my cousin that belongs to the Aunt that hates me. (and pretty much everyone.) Soooo... of course we are all going to go if possible. No one wants to miss this big event! Bridal shower is this Sunday. Haven't bought anything yet. Any ideas??

Another cousin is getting married in Thunder Bay in August. We are really hoping to get out for that one too. A has never been to Ontario and I haven't been for TOO long.

Ugh. I just hit the wall. Going to bed now.

Later, gators!

Nothing's New

hmm... my life is very boring lol

recently i've seen 2 new movies: The Matador which was raunchy at times, full of dialogue and satisfying in a blah kind of way (gotta be in the mood for a lot of Pierce Brosnan) and Underworld: Evolution which was okaaayyy... at times not great but thrilling at others and hm... very steamy sex-scene with Lycan/Vampire Michael Corvin and Vampire Seline YOWZA!

lol my evil mother made me borrow the first season of 24 and goddamn it it's an addictive show. kiefer sutherland is not un-hot for an old dude :P (he has a nice voice)

first two episodes of the new survivor haven't excited me much but now that they are in the traditional two tribes it has to improve.

A is starting hockey tomorrow night. i haven't ever seen him this excited.

still want a dog.

still don't have a day job. (although saw glen who worked with me at Elk Island and he says the new season starts may 15th and i for sure have a job then. i'm just not sure if a) i want to wait until may to work or b) if i'm up for another summer of irregular shifts or c) if i want to drive an hour to and from work every day again. time will tell tho'- if i'm meant to be back there, i will be.)

in the meantime, i remain,

boring blllllllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh
