Ouch.

We just got a rental increase notice. As of January 1, 2008 our rent is going from $725 +25 parking to $875 + parking. wow. Needless to say I'm a little stunned right now. Anyone in need of 4 roommates- two human and two feline?

I thought rents could only go up $100 at a time?? wow.

Procrastination thou art a Fickle Friend

I know that when you call we have fun.
We discover tiny little tasks that might never otherwise be completed.
Sock drawer! Sock Drawer!
We can spend minutes or hours-
Your whims are mine.
I agree, that spot on the wall needs attention.
A trip to the store for supplies to clean?
Hmm I haven't been here before? Is this store new?
Jeans? yes. These DO look good.
OH Procrastination! How you influence me!
You promise to help with my devoirs
But we become too much absorbed in other things.
When the time comes for the crunch-
You are gone.
I am alone.
And my work remains.

Procrastination thou art a Fickle Friend.

Helllooooooo! and Goodbye.

Well, the other night, I was asked to go to a concert with a very good friend of mine. It was a GREAT! night. We haven't had much "just the two of us" time together for a long time and it was great to catch up without any distractions. The concert was awesome, the seats were incredible and I had a really really good time. :) Thank you soooo much, D.

I went along to my mom's hair appointment yesterday and found out that my hairdresser, Bee, is moving to Ottawa. On Thursday. I was totally shocked and pretty sad- she's been cutting my hair for 16 years! Not only will I miss her style tips, but I will miss her hillarious stories, advice for life and unwavering support.

They always say don't take the people you care for for granted because things can change in an instant. They are right.

So, my advice to you all is that if you have a dental hygienist that you love, a favourite clerk at the grocery store or a bus driver that you always enjoy, take an extra moment to give them a smile and a thank you.

I will miss Bee but instead of crying about it I'm going to spend my time figuring out how often I can afford to commute to Ottawa for a haircut. Good thing my hair's long! lol

Men. Not Worth the Trouble.

*laugh* Blogger wouldn't take my text on this one, just the title. Oopsie.

Soooooo today was an interesting day. We both had the day off, so we both slept in then read for awhile in bed. What a nice start.

Then, we hopped in the car and headed for the west end. The Dude suggested we go to the Cheesecake Cafe for some cheesecake. Hmm, I thought that's funny. But anyway I'm not one to turn down cheesecake!

So that was good. After we left the CC we headed toward WEM where we planned on going mini-golfing. Then we pulled into the Spence parking lot. Then I freaked out a little bit. The Dude said we'd do a bit of "pre-shopping." Interesting.

So we walked in, and separated and the Dude said to take a good look around. I was really nervous at first but after a few minutes I got mesmerized by the sparkles and started trying stuff on.

Then....................................... about ten minutes later the Dude said "K let's go."

Um. TEN minutes in a diamond store?? WTF?

So, I huffed out of the store and into the car. Not impressed. Then, we fought for the rest of the day because my stance was um, why the hell would you take me to a place like that if you a) didn't intend for me to look, b) only planned on staying ten minutes and c) didn't want to get my hopes SERIOUSLY up.

Needless to say, the mini golf was a wash. We drove home in icy silence and spent the afternoon ignoring each other.

Then eventually, we both began to see the childishness of our sulking and just laughed at each other instead.

You see, it's not that the Dude didn't want me to look. It's not that he'd only planned on staying 10 minutes. It's not that he wanted to get my hopes up for no reason. What happened was that he freaked out. Plain and simple. He got cold feet. And didn't say anything.

After I finished laughing at him for being such a dumbass, I asked him why he didn't just tell me he needed some time outside, or a breath of fresh air, or that he was nervous. I would have TOTALLY understood and he could have spared himself hours of yuck. His answer? "I don't know."

Mansolution: 'tis better to be thought a class A asswipe than to admit to a little weakness.

I am really really understanding "you can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em."

Do they ever get better? Or is the answer one of those punching dummies? Or maybe a LOT of alcohol...?

Uh Oh...

Remember about a week ago when I was chafing at the bit to be back at school?

Well I have a 7-10 page paper due on Sept. 26th as well as an oral presentation.

What the HELL was I thinking?

I'm freaking out already! (Okay, well not freaking yet, but having palpitations and accelerated breathing a little bit.)

LOL

Why do I do this to myself?

P.S. Stay Tuned for "Life Lesson # 586 brought to you by the letters J, G and the number 0... for 0uch!"

love you guys!

Where to Begin?

It's September! 7th!

I feel like I've just emerged from a pool of quicksand. For some reason the last 9 months have come hard and fast and I have had a tough time pulling everything together. I handled school all right, (even earned myself a scholarship nomination! :) [will find out in December!]) managed to survive work this summer annndddddd ummmmmm yea. My apartment is a disaster. I haven't seen some of my friends or returned their calls in months. I just feel like I'm on that amusement park ride- the Scrambler where you're on one course and feel good about it when suddenly you're jerked in a completely different direction. I don't know why this is. I've been sick a bunch of times this year too- sinus infections, strep throat, the flu more times than I care to think about. I don't know how people can manage working full time, a social life, a family, a household. Can anyone give me some hints? I just can't seem to get a grip on it all.

On the upside, I'm now medicated! It's funny how sometimes you can be in desperate need of something and don't realize it until you've fixed the problem. Say, before you get your glasses for the first time. You have the vague notion that something is wrong, but don't know how bad it is until you look through the lenses and everything is crystal clear. Makes you never want to take the damn things off! Well that's how it is with my drugs :) There was one week when my prescription ran out and I couldn't get in to my Doc to get refilled... let's just say that I won't be repeating THAT episode. But, other than that fear, I am good. I am happy. As much as the next girl, anyway.

The last couple of weeks have seen me spending some time with mommies my age. I am thrilled to be included in their activities because I LOVE the kids, and I cherish the contact with the ladies but I also feel very sad about things when I think about it. I am 30 years old and live with a boyfriend who isn't ready for marriage but is ok with having a family while I am adamantly against having kids before I have a commitment. I get scared that my time will never come. Maybe I had my chance and I blew it.

I was feeling really really bummed about this after the Discovery Toys Party so to cheer myself up I made a list.
Top 5 Reasons NOT Being a Mommy is GREAT:
1- I don't have to worry about peeing a little when I laugh, sneeze or cough.
2- My babies use a litter box and not diapers.
3- I don't have to get my big baby a bottle- he can open his own beers.
4- Spontenaiety.
5- I can play, spoil, tease and love... and then they go home.
:)
Anyway. I'm back at school this week and so so so happy. There are so many things to learn and I feel so satisfied being here where answers and knowledge seem to appear on their own. I'm excited about finishing my degree but terrified of having to take that next step. Again. LOL Is it possible to make a living by being in school? Talk amongst yourselves and let me know!
What more can I say? There's so much more I want to say. I want to say that D's ultrasound pictures made me smile and get all squishy inside. I want to say that I feel for C heading back to work and about HR policies that are not Human-Friendly. I want to say that I am proud of the changes that K has made to her life. I want to say that if ANYone needs to talk, I am a good listener. And, I've made my mistakes, so I am pretty good at being an objective listener, regardless of my opinions. I want to say that the Dude and I are on the waiting list for Woodvale Court, although I have no idea how long said list is, if they allow pets of the 4-legged variety, how much they'll want for rent, when we can move in, or how tough/easy it will be to leave my current location. A lot has gone down in Castle Downs. Not all was bad. I wonder if Lou and Polly will be happy in a new place- Lou's daily forrays onto the deck will have to be replaced- possibly by a harness and cable setup. Not sure how he'll feel about the restriction.
K now I'm just spewing verbal... well you know.
Damn, I'll have D on my ass now for using an elipsis. D'oh. Sorry man :P
