Mavis Abbot

My Granny passed away this weekend. She was fighting so hard to wait to see her kids who were flying in from Thunder Bay. Finally, they arrived and later that evening she rested.

I stayed overnight at the hospital on Friday with her partner. While the nurses did wake me up every two hours when they came in to turn and refresh her and while the couch was incredibly uncomfortable to sleep on, I am really glad I could be there with her and for Bill.

There's going to be a memorial service soon, before my aunts and my uncle have to return to their homes.

My Granny was the world's most stubborn woman, but it says a lot that even with her myriad of quirks, 5/6 of her children and 10/20 of her grandchildren made the trip to see her before she left us.

Hey! Who Stole September??

O dear lord. Is the rest of life going to fly by like the last year or so has? If so, I'm in big trouble!

While I've done a TON of work in my front and back yards (with a lot of help from my papa) I've discovered in the last couple of days that my living room is STILL full of half-unpacked boxes. Uh oh. My bedrooom is still a disaster zone of clothes needing to find homes and our spare room is little better... tho' you can actually SIT on the new futon now. /sigh.

What the heck did I do for the last few weeks????

I have yet to return my uniform, keys and a bunch of paperwork to my summer job. It's all ready... just not going anywhere.

I still don't have a job. The extremely promising prospect didn't pan out, to my disappointment. Damn all those people with actual experience! :P I'm starting to wonder if it was smart to have finished my degree in the last two years, rather than just hopping on the WHATEVER job bandwagon. The 10 grand I'm now in debt looms bigger and bigger in my mind as the jobs for which my degree qualifies me go to people with that everloving experience advantage. It's too late to turn back the clock and just settle for something and I am proud that I convocated with a degree in something I love. It's just scary that bills still need to be paid while I sit at home and ... a month goes by.

In other news, the yard DOES look pretty awesome, I've planted tulips and my veggie "square-foot" garden is prepped for the spring. I've been babysitting (babies, cats and now a dog) and trying to get some exercise. I spent a fun day with Chuck and D at the Telus World of Science. My nephew came to hang out on Friday night and left on Sunday afternoon.

So that's a little bit about me. I'm still not sure who stole September, though!

Annoyed

Today I am feeling annoyed. Bigtime.

This feeling is focused on everyone in the world who seems to think that everyone is online 24/7. This everyone includes newspaper contests, radio stations, tv shows and even my friends whom I love dearly.
I'm going through a tough spot right now. I'm bored. I'm lonely. I'm anxious about all the bills that need to be paid and the permanent job I still don't have. My summer contract is a long way off. I'm depressed. I'm sad that I've been sick since baby O.H. was born and thus I haven't been out to see him yet. I feel excluded from a social life because I'm not online. I'm irritated at my boyfriend for not doing much around the house or the yard and that he doesn't seem to care and yet he bitches at me for not doing .... whatever. I know he's been working his ass off at work and that it's up to me to pick up the slack at home. Still, tho' a little acknowledgement for the things I DO accomplish would be nice.
I guess the main problems are that I'm worried about the future and that I'm lonely and because it's easier on my heart to go on the offense than on the defence: I'm annoyed.

Happy in the new house.
Looking for a job.
Working on my yard.
Holding my breath to meet baby H.
Still lovin' the Dude.

Regina

Yep, I'm in Regina again until July 10th.

We came down for a family wedding on the weekend, which was beautiful, naturally, and now we're just chillin'. I'm flying home on Thursday afternoon and the Dude is going to Craven on the weekend before driving home Sunday.

My internet access is close to NONE so please don't assume I'm ignoring all y'all- it's just so hard to get onto a computer. The loaner from KW is working less every day /cry. I don't know- maybe I'm cursed? But anyway, if you need to get a hold of me, check my facebook page for my home phone number and my NEW celly number.

Yes! I got a swanky new cell phone. It's sweet.

Call me, I'm lonely. Well, call me when I get home. I'll see you soon?

Delayed Until Now

I know, I know. I've been terrible at making regular posts. Well, my excuse is that my computer STILL isn't fixed- lucky to have any internet access at all thanks to a loaner by KW.

Lots has been happening as usual, so here's a quick update:

Back at my usual summer gig. Great to be back with everyone. Can't say any more than that here except that my camera has been put to good use so far this year!

My "brand new" one-year old car has suffered a bit of a "cosmetic" update to the tune of 5000$. What happened? Well, one day, the Dude was driving to work. The guy beside him dropped his pen and when he bent down to pick it up he drove straight into the side of our car. I thank God that the oncoming traffic was stopped at a light further down the road because it could have ended much much worse. The Dude is fine and the guy was completely at fault. The pain in the bum is that until July, when the car can get fixed, we have to deal with a vehicle with operational doors on one side only.

Last Thursday I got half of my hair cut off. It's been a while since it has been so short but I am loving how easy it is to take care of!

We MIGHT *crossed fingers* be moving!!! My sister's manfriend owns some houses, out of which one of his tenants is hopefully moving. We'll know for sure in a couple of weeks, but if all goes well we'll have the main floor of a little house close to Whyte Ave. with a backyard and all! FINALLY we will be able to have guests over because P. Niss doesn't live below!! The place doesn't have any carpet which will be a wonderful relief for my allergies and so on and so on... I've got my hopes WAY up. I really really hope this works out!

I'll post more soon, but I just wanted to update you and let you know that I am still around. Keep clean, and in the meantime I'll be looking all over for the "real" job that I'll be needing come fall. :-/ Wish this gig had more in the way of permanent positions!!

DUNZO.

Yep. I'm officially a BA. What I will do with my new letters remains to be seen. For now, the future is a big cliff over which I can't yet see. I hope to get a little closer- close enough to take a peek anyway- soon. For now, however, I'll continue working for the summer at that place I cannot discuss here in the public domain and holding on to my Dude and my friends for support.

I know there's so much going on out there, and I am looking forward to being the one GIVING support and not just using it all up.

Thanks to all of you that put up with me the last couple of years. More to come.
